BET, fully known as Black Entertainment Television, owned by Viacom Media Networks. As the name states, the demographic audience is targeted towards African Americans. Programming on the network consists of original and acquired television shows, films, comedy skits, and documentaries of African-American musicians.
During the early years, USA Network (a television network owned by NBCUniversal and Comcast) held a timeshare between BET. In 1983, BET became a full-fledged network.
