
BET Her is a television network owned by ViacomCBS Domestic Media Networks and a spin-off of BET. Its audience is targeted at African-American women. It launched on January 15, 1996, and was known as BET on Jazz. BET on Jazz was later renamed to BET J in 2006 while scoping interest in soul and hip-hop. In 2009, BET J was rebranded to Centric with a focus on lifestyle, general programming, and music towards African-Americans. In 2014, the programming changed to appeal women more and in 2017, Centric was named to what it is now.
