CBS Studios is a television production company owned by ViacomCBS that was formed under its current name in 2009. Its origins trace themselves back to Desilu Productions (which was succeeded by Paramount Television in 1968), CBS Productions (which was succeeded by CBS Paramount Television (which, in turn, was a successor of Paramount Television)) and Spelling Television (which was acquired by the first Viacom in their 1994 purchase of the former Blockbuster retail chain). The current production company produces content for CBS and CBS All Access, but have also produced content for third-party networks and streaming services.
