Carlton "Carl" Ulysses Wheezer is one of the two deuteragonists (alongside Goddard) of the Jimmy Neutron series. He is one of Jimmy's best friends.
Biography[]
Carl is obsessed with llamas and has a crush on Judy. In "Carl Wheezer, Boy Genius", his crush was Elke Ekeberg, his pen pal from Sweden. Sometimes, Carl soils himself. He appears to love eating food and can eat about any kind of food, even ones that aren't edible. Carl has a very sensitive scapula and always shouts if it's hurt. He dislikes lima beans, germs and scary stories. Examples are shown in "I Dream of Jimmy" and "Sleepless in Retroville". Carl seems to be envious of Jimmy's super intelligence and all the attention he gets from girls. He also hates testing Jimmy's dangerous experiments because they constantly injure or endanger him.
Many fans aren't fond of Carl, mainly because in later episodes, he came off as very annoying with his constant whining, the jokes about his scapula and his creepy stalker-like obsession with Judy. It doesn't help that he betrayed Jimmy in one episode.
Carl had a cameo in Planet Sheen when Sheen thought, at first sight of Doppy (Carl's Planet Sheen counterpart), he was looking at Carl in the episode, "Is This Cute?" This makes Carl the only character from the original series (besides the obvious) to make any appearances on Planet Sheen.
Personality[]
Carl is quite greedy, loving to devour not only food but objects such as toys and newspapers. When his parents expanded their cable line-up, Carl found himself focusing on a channel devoted to llamas and a show about a superhero called Llama Boy, the Super Hero. He has adored llamas ever since, going so far as to join a fan club, the Llama Love Society (which he likely created, since he has shown to be the only member). He even turned into a llama once. He is allergic to almost everything and has asthma. Carl often unknowingly gives Jimmy his brilliant ideas.
It has revealed in "The Incredible Shrinking Town" that he took ventriloquist lessons and can virtually imitate and sound like everyone. It is also a hint that he has some sort of dislike for Sheen, even though he's one of his best friends. Carl enjoys playing a video game called Llamapalooza. It is also revealed in I Dream of Jimmy and Carl Wheezer, Boy Genius that Carl is actually self-conscious and insecure about his unintelligent, and envious of Jimmy and wants to steal his life. Carl seems to specifically envy Jimmy's IQ and all the attention he gets from girls and is always upset that Jimmy makes him test his inventions since he has sometimes harmed.
Behind the scenes[]
- Carl makes a cameo in a flashback in the Planet Sheen episode, Is This Cute? when Sheen saw Doppy and saw the strong resemblance to Carl, but then disregards if after the flashback.
- Carl was going to be part of the series, but Nickelodeon executives decided to make it only about Sheen and Doppy was created.
