Chilevisión is a television network owned by Paramount since 2021. It launched in 1960. As implied by its name, it broadcasts programming throughout the country of Chile. Its previous names are: Canal 9 de la Universidad de Chile, Teleonce, Universidad de Chile Televisión and Red de Televisión Universidad de Chile before receiving its current name in 1993.
Previous ownership[]
The network was previously owned by WarnerMedia who purchased it in 2010 (when it was named Time Warner). Paramount's purchase of the network happened in early October 2021, roughly half a year before the launch of Warner Bros. Discovery.
Trivia[]
- The purchase of the network was possibly done to increase Paramount's presence in Spanish-speaking countries outside of international versions of its primary networks and Telefe. This could also be the reason they purchased TeleColombia (which they also purchased in October).
