Desiree is a genie-like ghost and a supporting antagonist of Danny Phantom, debuting in the episode "What You Want". She grants anyone's their deepest desires; however, the outcome becomes catastrophic, making her an immediate enemy to Team Phantom. Once someone makes a wish she is forced to obey at times.

Biography[]

History Life before death[]

Before her life as a ghost, Desirée was a harem girl who won the heart of a sultan. She promised to grant him all her heart's desires and even a kingdom of her own. However, she was thrown out of the palace by the sultan's jealous wife. She died of a broken heart and old age, although she somehow regained her youthful appearance as a ghost. Her backstory implies that she once genuinely used her powers to help others.

First apparition[]

At some point in history, her spirit somehow ended up in a genie's bottle and she was on display at a trading market. There, a girl accidentally released the balloon from her which knocked over the bottle. When Desirée was freed, she granted cotton candy's wish, producing a tidal wave of it that destroyed the market (much to the delight of a dentist). In the present day, she continued granting wishes: Dash turns into a Hulk-like creature to crush the other soccer team, Paulina turns into a cute and popular anime character: Sayonara Pussycat, and gives a surfer's car. the uncontrollable power of flight. When Tucker (who was jealous of Danny) wanted ghost powers, he gave him powers that consumed him and he turned evil as time went on. A rivalry between him and Danny took place. Finally Danny captures Desirée wishing that she herself be locked in the thermos.

Days in prison[]

She had a brief cameo in the episode Prisoners for Love as one of the many ghosts in Walker's prison, she helps Danny and Skulker escape from it.

Back to the wish business[]

She later appears as the main villain in the episode Memory Blank, when she arrived in time for the meteor shower that occurred during Paulina's quinceañera party. She first destroys the sale of non-environmental trucks when Sam wishes it, giving life to a giant cow. Then, when Sam accidentally wishes something bad would happen to Paulina, she brings the "Trinity of Death" to life as a trio of ghosts to hunt down and kill Paulina. When Danny fights Terminatra, Sam wishes she had never met Danny after they had a fight. Desirée granted the wish and created a world in which Danny did not know Sam, therefore she never gained her ghost powers, as her accident was caused in part by Sam. Sam was fighting for Danny to get his powers, which he did successfully, and now fighting an inexperienced Danny who tried in vain to control his "new" powers to stop Desirée, who was becoming stronger and stronger due to the great number of wishes that were made during the meteor shower. Sam finally wishes that Danny would get her memory back. Danny again seals Desirée in the thermos, to which she notes, "I have to stop granting every wish I hear."

Kingdom Storm[]

She had another small cameo in Reign Storm, when Skulker led millions of ghosts out of the ghost zone to escape Pariah Dark.

Christmas Eve[]

She returned again in The Fright Before Christmas, as one of the many ghosts who helped Danny stop the Ghost Writer and save Christmas.

Saving Earth and the Ghost Zone[]

She was seen briefly in the series finale, on Phantom Planet, first suffering an attack by Vlad's ghost-hunting team, the Masters' Blasters, and later helping Danny, Skulker, and millions of other ghosts return to life. the intangible earth.

Appearance[]

Desiree is a tall, slim, green-skinned ghost with red eyes, really extremely beautiful long black hair and a blue ghostly tail. She wears purple lipstick, a blue headband, a blue crop-top with blue bangles and a purple necklace. She has two metallic purple cuffs on each arm, one on her bicep and one on her wrist, and she has two blue bangle bracelets on her right wrist and one on her left. Desiree's outfit consists of Arabian attire, which includes a blue strapless crop top with purple trim, along with a metallic purple belt with a blue jewel in the center, which hangs over her tail.

Before becoming a ghost after dying of a broken heart and old age, Desiree's skin color used to be brown and she had legs. As well, she wore the same outfit she wore as a ghost. But as a human, she wears purple lipstick, a gold headband and necklace. She has two metallic gold cuffs on each arm, one on her bicep and one on her wrist, and she has two gold bangle bracelets on her right wrist and one on her left. Desiree's outfit consists of Arabian attire, which includes a purple strapless crop top with gold trim, along with a metallic gold belt with a blue jewel in the center which hang over her legs when she was alive.

Personality[]

Desiree is a rather vindictive genie. Her wishes reflect this as they often have grave consequences beneath them, such as Sam's absent minded wish of never meeting Danny coming true, with her memories still preserved while nobody else recognizes her. Another time is at the Swap Meet where she makes a little girl's wish for cotton candy come true by turning the cotton candy stand into a volcano that creates a cotton candy tsunami which decimates the Swap Meet.  She also uses the wishes of others to her advantage.

Her love tragedy gives her a rather low opinion of men; she refuses to let any man/men touch her unless she wishes it. However, this low opinion is misplaced given as how it was never the Sultan that resulted in her downfall, it was his jealous wife. This actually becomes obvious since he was clearly sad when she was banished.

Trivia[]

  • The name Desiree is a play on "desire."
  • Along with the Ghost Writer, Desiree is the only villain who displays no hostility in the first encounter with Danny, as she seemingly just wanted to know Danny’s wish before he shot her away.
  • Desiree apparently has 4th wall breaking capabilities as demonstrated during the episode "Memory Blank" when she says, "So you have wished it, so-" then looks at the audience and says "you know the rest."
  • Desiree does not appear with most of the other ghost villainesses in “Girl’s Night Out”. This is rather ironic since the theme of disliking men is very appropriate with her character (even if flawed given her backstory of a man loving her and a woman being the reason for her vengeful nature).
  • In both episodes that Desiree was the main villain, there were additional one-shot villains, all produced by her wish-granting power. Both times, the ones who made the wishes that led to these villains were Danny's friends. The first one was created by Tucker's wish, while the other three were created by Sam's wish.
    • Incidentally, both of her appearances as the main antagonist are in episodes in which Danny has a conflict with Sam or Tucker.
  • She’s one of the few ghosts to have had a human life, or at least evidence of a human life. This contradicts with what Butch Hartman said in a video on his YouTube Channel where he said the ghosts in the Danny Phantom universe are monsters from another dimension and not the spirit of the deceased.
  • Technically Desiree should be the easiest ghost to defeat as Danny and Sam had wished her to be defeated but they only realized this until after the damage Desiree has caused is done.
    • Danny himself admits to this in her debut episode when he tells her "I wish you would disappear inside this thermos!". After which he "wishes" he had thought of that five days prior.
