Diego Márquez is a recurring character in Nick Jr.'s 2000-2019 series Dora the Explorer, the titular protagonist of its 2005-2011 spin-off Go, Diego, Go! and the upcoming film Diego and the Animal Kingdom and the deuteragonist of the 2019 live-action film Dora and the Lost City of Gold. He is the cousin of Dora and much like her, he is adventurous and brave. In Diego's case, he loves rescuing animals in danger and talks about the behaviors of an animal he rescued towards the audience.
Description[]
Diego is Dora's boyfriend and Alicia's brother. Though it isn't confirmed how they're related, they're presumably first paternal couples considering they share the same last name (i.e. their dads are brothers). Like Dora, Diego comes from a family of three kids, with the three kids consisting of one son and two daughters. However, while Dora's the oldest kid in her family (her younger brother and sister, Guillermo and Isabella, are fraternal twins), Diego's the youngest kid in his family (he has two older sisters named Daisy and Alicia). While he's a minor character in his girlfriend's show, Diego's the host of his own show where he's the main character and Dora appears as a minor character in her cousin's show.
Personality[]
Like Dora, Diego is a brave, energetic, and adventurous boy who is ready to save any animal in danger. They share a lot of things in common: an animal companion and a talking backpack who is ready to give a helping hand. Additionally, they both use maps or some form of cartography to help them explorer. Diego teaches animal behaviors, habitat, and sounds they make towards the audience.

Diego appears in several episodes of Dora the Explorer as well as every episode of Go, Diego, Go!. He had the major role except in "Alicia and Whitetail to the Rescue". His first appearance was in "Meet Diego!".
