DreamWorks Pictures is a film production company that was formed in 1994 under the control of SKG (an initialization of the founders' last names). Viacom purchased them in 2005. As they were then owned by Viacom, Paramount Pictures served as the distributor for films produced by them. However the deal ended in 2008, after which DreamWorks Pictures distributed their films separately. In 2009, Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures through their Touchstone label signed a deal to distribute their films which lasted from 2011 to 2016. In 2015, a media consortium known as Amblin Partners was formed and took control of DreamWorks Pictures, one of the members of the consortium, Universal Pictures (owned by Comcast through NBCUniversal) took over the distribution of the films. Despite separating from DreamWorks Pictures in 2004, films from DreamWorks Animation were also distributed by Paramount from 2006 to 2012. This partnership ended when DreamWorks Animation moved their distribution to 20th Century Fox (later to Universal Pictures starting in 2018).
