The Earworm is the titular main antagonist from the episode of the same name from SpongeBob SquarePants. It is a worm who enters one's brain and uses the song's recording to control someone into singing endlessly.
Overview[]
The Earworm got into SpongeBob by only crawling through one of his holes. Sandy is the first to discover SpongeBob has it and reports that Earworms can be dangerous. Mr. Krabs and Sandy try to help SpongeBob expel the Earworm; Mr. Krabs sings "High Seas Chant" and Sandy sings "Life on the Prairie," however, they both fail. Then, Squidward plays a "catchy" song on his clarinet.
This results in the Earworm finally leaving SpongeBob and being defeated, although in favor of Squidward. It penetrates Squidward by crawling below his eyelids.
After nearly 12 years, the Earworm returns in Season 13's "Captain Pipsqueak" where he appears alongside several other villains, still listening to the record player he used on SpongeBob before, where is among the villains auditioning to join Every Villain Is Lemons.
