Elizabeth "Eliza" Thornberry is the protagonist from the Nickelodeon animated series The Wild Thornberrys. She is the younger daughter of Nigel and Marianne Thornberry who loves animals and exploring the wild jungles, deserts and forests in which the family travels around. Unbeknownst to her family, Eliza possesses the ability to speak animal languages, gifted to her by a shaman whom she had rescued two years prior to the series' beginning.
Overview[]
Eliza Thornberry is a 12-year-old girl[1] and the youngest daughter of the Thornberrys. She has long red-orange hair usually worn in pigtails, and occasionally a ponytail, round eyeglasses, four big teeth connected by two braces, and freckles. She is able to communicate with animals, especially her chimpanzee sidekick Darwin. She must keep this gift secret or she will lose her powers (as revealed in the episode "Gift of Gab"). Despite her good intentions, she sometimes interferes with nature which causes more problems.[2]
