Eric Theodore Cartman is the tritagonist and occasional antagonist of South Park. Cartman is very antagonistic and manipulative. Because of that, Eric Cartman is one of the most recognizable cartoon characters in an adult sitcom and a cultural icon. He is placed 10th on the list of "50 greatest cartoon characters of all time" by TV Guide. He is Kyle and Stan's best friend and occasional arch-rival.

Appearance[]

Cartman is morbidly obese for a 10-year-old. He wears a red jacket, yellow mittens, a blue hat with a yellow puffball on top, brown pants, black shoes, and white socks (as seen in "Super Fun Time"). He sometimes wears a green t-shirt with a bear picture on under his jacket, a white tank top, and occasionally a dark red t-shirt. He has medium-brown hair and a double-chin. He also has triangular-shaped eyebrows, in contrast to the other main boys' rectangular ones.

Personality and traits[]

Eric is possibly one of the rudest, diabolical and despicable characters in any media. He is manipulative, foul-mouthed for his age (pretty much all the young characters are like this), disrespectful to adult figures, and loves to get what we want, again by using manipulation. It is clear that Eric shows signs of being a psychopath and sociopath as he can corrupt the minds of adults and children in his hometown. However, most of these plans end up failing. Even the other boys (expect Butters) don't consider Eric as a friend and don't know why they even hang out with him. In the words of Kyle, "he's a fat racist self-centered intolerant manipulating sociopath!"

Eric has an extreme hatred towards Jewish people (antisemitism)  as he'll reference to holocaust, how their kind screwed up the world, and Adolf Hilter. Eric idolizes the twisted leader and even dresses as him to manipulate people. He will also use German words even though he mispronounces them. This in turn makes him the Arch-enemy of Kyle, where he calls him Fat whenever Cartman makes fun of him being Jewish.

Most of Eric's antisocial behavior likely stems from his obesity as they are more likely to suffer from psychological issues such as depression. However, he denies his health by saying "I'm not fat, I'm big-boned!" His weight also leads to him being spoiled. Whenever he wants something, he will say "but maaaam" in an incredibly whiny voice, this usually works most of the time. Sometimes Cartman has shown sympathy for other being's well being like in "Major Boobage", where he tried to keep as many cats as possible in his attic from getting hunted. Or where he saved Kyle and his family from a storm in "Smug Alert" (though only because he could keep kyle as an Arch-enemy as he found Butters too Caring, soft, and forgiving to be one) In "The Death of Eric Cartman", Cartman bevelling he could go to heaven if he did a good act due to him thinking he's a ghost after the other kids start to ignore him expect Butters, who wasn't told of this, saved a group of hostages with Butters.
