I Love Lucy was a Syndication network sitcom starring actress Lucille Ball in the title role that premiered on October 15, 1951.

It also starred Lucille Ball's then-husband, Desi Arnaz, Vivian Vance & William Frawley.

The show became the first scripted TV program to be shot on 33 mm film in front of a studio audience and was the most-watched TV show in the U.S. for four of its six-season and was the first TV show to end its run at the top of the Nielsen ratings (which would later be matched by "The Andy Griffith Show" and "Seinfeld").

During its run, it has won five Emmy awards and for various other awards as well.

On May 6, 1957, "I Love Lucy" came to an end after 181 episodes & six seasons. During that same year, the show launched the spin-off "The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour" which lasted from 1960.


The show was about Lucy Ricardo, a daffy woman who constantly strives to become a star along with her bandleader husband, Ricky and gets herself in unusual situations.
