Paramount Wiki

Leni L. Loud is the deuteragonist of The Loud House, serving as one of the main characters in the 1st-4th season and the deuteragonist in the 5th-present season. She is also one of the deuteragonists in the 2021 Netflix/Nickelodeon film The Loud House Movie.

She is the second-oldest child in the Loud family, at 16 years old in seasons 1 to 4, and 17 years old in season 5. She is the kindest, but also the least brightest of the eleven siblings. In spite of her fulfilling the "dumb blonde" stereotype, she is quite talented in fashion designing, wood carving, and lock-picking. She now works as an employee of Reininger's and the current oldest sibling living in the house, following Lori starts her new life at college.

Biography[]

Various examples of Leni's simple-mindedness are expressed throughout the series. In "Linc or Swim", she does not know the rules of the game, "Marco Polo", much to Luan's annoyance. In "Project Loud House", she is shown to be unable to walk and chew bubble gum at the same time. In "Changing the Baby", she gets stuck in Lily's crib and thinks that it's a baby prison. When she's being interrogated by Lincoln and Lucy in "Sleuth or Consequences", she thinks they're interviewing her, and states that her favorite color is zebra.

Despite being ditzy, shy, and scatter-brained, Leni's shown to be skilled at fashion designing, wood carving, singing, lock-picking, and making smoothies, which demonstrates that while she may not be very bright, she is creative and artistically inclined. She is also the kindest and sweetest out of the bunch and gets along well with all of her siblings. She also has a crush on Chaz, a fat but kind-hearted boy who is one of Lori's friends and shares her interest in fashion.

Leni's willingness to help others, in fact, is what gets her a job at the clothing store Reininger's in the episode "Shop Girl". In "Crimes of Fashion", she was wrongly fired from her job by Ms. Carmichael after being mistakenly accused of stealing several scarfs from her department. After Lincoln and Clyde found out that Ms. Carmichael's son did it (having used said scarves as capes), she was re-hired by Ms. Carmichael, who apologized for the accusation. Leni would later be made temporary manager of Reininger's in "Leader of the Rack" and is named employee of the month in "The Boss Maybe".

Leni suffers from arachnophobia, as seen in "Left in the Dark", "No Guts, No Glori" and "Future Tense". This phobia is most prominent in "Along Came a Sister", where Lincoln brings his class's pet spider, Frances, home. When Leni first sees Frances, she panics and attempts to kill her with bug spray. Later on, it is revealed that Frances is still alive, and Dad – who also exhibits arachnophobia – hires an exterminator to dispose of her. Leni faces her fear and stops the exterminator, in order to save Lincoln's reputation – once again – showing that she does have a big heart.

Leni has also shown that she can be irresponsible, as shown in the episode "Cover Girls", where she agreed to cover for Luna, Luan, Lynn, Lucy, Lola, and Lana, only to then pass the task onto Lincoln. However, Leni is shown to be very compassionate, as she was the only one of her siblings to prioritize helping her family get better, as opposed to getting away when the Loud family caught the flu in "One Flu Over the Loud House". In addition, in "No Spoilers", it is shown she is the only person in the family considerate enough in the family to be able to make the perfect surprise party because she pays attention to what people like (excluding the surprise part since she always spoils the surprise because can't keep a secret).

As of the fifth-season, Leni is now the oldest sibling living in the house, while her older sister and former roommate Lori is moving out to attend college at Fairway University (aside from her occasional visits). She also finally learned to drive and got her driver's license in the sixth season's "Driver's Dread".

In "Time Trap!", Leni and her siblings altered history, causing their parents to decide not to have any kids in the future. As a result, Leni got deleted out of existence, although she returned when Lisa and Lily prevented this timeline alteration.

Personality[]

Leni tends to have a very compassionate, kind-hearted nature towards others (especially her family). In one episode, when she and her siblings are in the grocery store, she at one point tries to help the lobsters in the store's tanks escape before they can be bought and killed for food, by tying balloons to their tails so they'll fly away. In another episode, when most of her siblings are sick with a contagious flu, Leni seems to be the only one who wants to help and take care of those who are sick (The others are more concerned with not getting themselves infected).

While she can occasionally fight with her siblings, she rarely if ever instigates it, and at times when she sees two or more of her siblings in a dispute, she attempts to help them resolve it peacefully (i.e. in 'It's a Loud, Loud, Loud, Loud House,' when the siblings were fighting over ownership of a quarter they found, Leni at one point tries to convince them to split it amongst each other), though she is rarely successful at this. Also, as observed earlier, she is an excellent party planner, as her empathetic nature causes her to listen to people and figure out what they like. Her main interest is a fashion and all things related to it. She aspires to one day become a fashion designer.

She is particularly close to her older sister Lori; While they sometimes fight (Almost always over a clothing-related issue), on the whole, they seem to consider each other best friends. Out of all the Loud siblings, Leni appears to have the most positive relationship with her brother Lincoln, and along with Luna, she has the best relationship with him of his older sisters. In "Along came a Sister", Leni becomes guilty after believing that she accidentally killed Lincoln's class pet tarantula. Upon learning the spider was still alive, she goes to great measures to protect her brother and prevent an exterminator bent on eliminating it in doing his job. In "One Flu Over the Loud House", Lincoln sacrifices his life to save her, and when she asks him why he did that, Lincoln answers that she is the "purest" of all his sisters.

Appearance[]

Leni has long, pale blonde hair, with side-swept bangs, and three pairs of eyelashes. She is almost as tall as Lori but taller than all her younger siblings.

Her outfit is a seafoam green dress, with white frills, and triangular sleeves. With this, she wears red hoop earrings, white sandals, topped with light green bows, and a pair of rounded white sunglasses with black lenses on top of her head.

Trivia[]

  • Her mirror world counterpart, Loni, from One of the Boys, may actually be smarter than she is, though he does have some of her goofiness. He is also more abrasive in his debut and wears a sweater and jeans, and he has square glasses.
  • Her name, ironically enough, means "Bright".
  • According to Chris Savino, Leni was named after Lennie Small, the deutagonist of John Steinback's iconic novel Of Mice and Men. This is very fitting, as both characters are not really smart.
  • Her Casagrandes counterpart is Carlota Casagrande.
  • She and Lily are the only Loud kids who are left-handed.
  • Starting in season 5, she is now the new oldest sibling in the house when Lori is moving out to attend college at Fairway University.
    • Since in the episode "Driver's Dread", she is successfully got her driver's license and able to use Vanzilla to drive her younger siblings to places completely after her driving test.
