Leonardo (or Leo for short) is one of the four protagonists from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise. Named after Leonardo da Vinci, he is always depicted as the leader of the four turtles and the most disciplined. His signature weapons are two katanas, and his bandana is blue in most iterations of the franchise.
Appearance[]
Appearance-wise, Leonardo doesn't have any distinguishing features aside from his blue bandana and his weapons. All the turtles have green skin and brown shells, similar to a red-eared slider. Before the color coded bandana, all the brothers wore red bandanas.
Personality[]
As stated previously, Leo is the most serious, mature, spiritual, and skilled out the four brothers as well as the oldest. However, his responsibilities and being the eldest can overwhelm him at times and his leadership can annoy his brothers, especially Raph. Leonardo has misconceptions at being a leader, he thinks that he must be perfect at all times as he wants to make his father proud. His decisions at times can put the turtles in great danger such as exposing themselves in NYC and fighting Shredder for the first in which they badly bruised and beaten.
In the TMNT 2012 reboot, Leo enjoys Space Heroes, a parody of Star Trek. He will often rephrase lines from the show and add in fighting sequences, making him come off as corny.
Overall, Leo is a natural-born leader who is very protective of his family, friends.
