Luan L. Loud is one of the main characters from the Nickelodeon animated series The Loud House. She is the fourth-oldest of Lincoln Loud's ten sisters, known for her love of comedy. She is a fun-loving teenager who has a tendency to crack a pun whenever she speaks, much to the annoyance of her siblings. Although she is usually one of the kinder Loud siblings, as she always wants to give her siblings a good laugh, she also has a penchant for pulling pranks, especially on April Fool's Day when they become downright fiendish. On one notable April fools day prank was in "April Fools Rules" where she invited Ronnie Anne Santiago over causing Lincoln to be subject to her pranks until Ronnie Anne threw a pie at her face when she arrived.

Biography[]

At 15 years old, Luan is the fourth oldest child of the Loud family, and the second-youngest of Lincoln's five older sisters. Luan is a sophomore at Royal Woods High School and attends school with her siblings Leni and Luna. Her habits include telling jokes and puns (which many of the other characters don't like), pulling pranks, party clowning, and video production.

Early life[]

Luan started comedy at a very young age. Her first performances were for the Loud Family's pets. Her first public comedic act was at an open mic in the Royal Woods Bowling Alley. There, she did not perform well and was heckled by the audience. Now aware that she had more to learn about comedy, she enrolled in a clowning academy and graduated. After paying her dues, she started her own Funny Business Inc..

In the comic "It's Just a Phase", it is revealed that when she was one year old, she would go out on her tricycle and pie the mailman in the face.

The episode "Hand-Me-Downer" reveals that Luan used to own a ventriloquist's dummy named Colonel Crackers but gave him up for Mr. Coconuts. Seeing as she was shown in "Head Poet's Anxiety" to have owned Mr. Coconuts when she was eight, this implies that she gave up Colonel Crackers when she was seven or younger.

In "Time Trap!", Luan and her siblings altered history, causing their parents to decide not to have any kids in the future. As a result, Luan got deleted out of existence, although she returned when Lisa and Lily prevented this timeline alteration.

Personality[]

Luan is a very goofy and optimistic girl with an enthusiasm for comedy and making puns. Her goal is to make the world laugh along with her, though some of her material still needs work. She loves pulling pranks on her siblings and frequently makes puns for every situation, causing her to get on everyone's nerves. While Luan laughs at others' humiliations and often comes off as a nuisance to others, she does it with good intentions and does not mean to harm anyone as she just wants to make people laugh. Despite Luan's occasional ruthlessness she is mostly friendly towards her siblings, especially to Leni and Luna.

She has a taste for everything that is related to comedy - this includes comedy movies and TV series, clowns, pranks, stand-up comedy, and funny internet videos. Her most common pranking methods are dodging people in the face with pies and placing a whoopie-cushion on others' seats. She also likes to record people experiencing funny situations with her video camera, but Luan is a strict ethicist so when she does this, she asks permission to the person she recorded to allow her to upload the video to the Internet. Unlike Lincoln, Luan already knows that she cannot upload videos without her subject's permission.

Though Luan is typically one of the kinder siblings, she utterly loses control when it comes to pranks, particularly on April Fools' Day. In three April Fools episodes, Luan becomes evil and sadistic which her pranks can be even more dangerous than before, where she placed in every corner of the house pitfalls, transforming the entire house into a lethal comedy trap. This is the only time of the year where Luan is thoughtless. In "Dread of the Class", Luan becomes evil once again who plotting to pull revenge pranks on Ronnie Anne and Lincoln by preventing them from passing final test to earn her pranking academy diploma until she got pranked by Virginia to save the two.

Appearance[]

Luan has prominent buck teeth, which sport silver braces on her upper and lower teeth, and light brown hair worn up in a large ponytail with a small swirl at the end by a yellow scrunchie (presumably the hairtie), with two long protruding hairs sticking out from the center of her forehead. In The Loud House Movie, her ponytail is slightly different, and it appears to be worn slightly higher as well. Her movie design also depicts her eyes as closer to her nose (albeit only when she is viewed from the side).

She dresses in a white sleeveless shirt, a yellow skirt with a checkerboard pattern, yellow socks with a line pattern that are worn all the way up, and brown shoes. She also wears three pink flowers, one on her shirt, and one on each shoe, that serve as gag squirt-flowers. Her prototype design had a gag flower on her skirt, but none on her shoes. She also didn't have any braces.

Trivia[]

  • In "One of the Boys", her mirror world counterpart is named Lane, and he seems to be more in control of his fun-loving impulses in Linka's segment, but he is initially portrayed as harsher. He owns a dummy named Mrs. Coconuts, in parallel to how Luan owns a dummy called Mr. Coconuts. His outfit is similar in color but with shorts held up by suspenders and a buttoned shirt, and he has a bowl cut.
  • Despite being heroic, she only acts villainous in three April Fools episodes and season 7 episode "Dread of the Class".
