Metacritic is a website that reviews video games, films, and TV shows, very similar to IGN. Metacritic was founded in 1999 and was created by Jason Dietz, Marc Doyle, and Julie Doyle. In 2005, Metacritic was sold to c|net in 2005 which would both be acquired by CBS in 2008. As of October 2020, Metacritic is owned by Red Ventures due to the selling of c|net.
The rating system is based on weighted averages, however, the system is left with a mixed reception from website critics.
