Miramax is a film studio that produces and distributes films and television shows. Miramax was founded in 1979 by the Weinstein brothers. It was an independent company during that time before Disney acquired it in 1993. The Weinstein brothers would continue to be a part of the company until 2005. In 2010, Disney sold Miramax for 660 million dollars to Filmyard Holdings but was then sold to beIN MediaGroup in 2016. As of December 2019, ViacomCBS agreed to acquire 49% of the company. Miramax is owned through Paramount Pictures.
