Sir Nigel Archibald Thornberry, KBE is Eliza and Debbie Thornberry's father, and one of the main characters of Nickelodeon's The Wild Thornberrys franchise. He is the host of Nigel Thornberry's Wild World.
Biography[]
As the host of Nigel Thornberry's Animal World, Nigel has devoted his entire life to studying all kinds of wild animals and their habitats. His dry wit and hearty laugh are almost as noticeable as his bright red hair and bushy moustache. Besides narrating the show, Nigel is an experienced pilot and woodsman, and has often risked life and limb to save his family from extremely perilous situations they find themselves in on their travels. In The Wild Thornberrys Movie, Nigel has been knighted by the Queen of England, but even this honor doesn't quench the need for adventure in his blood as he continues his journeys to the far corners of the globe in search of one elusive species after another. Filled with enthusiasm and a childlike sense of wonder, nothing can discourage Nigel Thornberry's love of the outdoors. Articulate and convincing, Nigel seems to know everything about the natural world. He loves his family more than anything, but he's a little slow when it comes to his two daughters. His wife would probably say that it's because of his artistic personality. What can you expect from adventurer/naturalist extraordinaire?" Two of his oddly iconic lines, "Blargh" and "Smashing, my dear poppet," have become viral internet memes, often in the act of merging the audio with other media, or placing Nigel's face on another location, be it another person, creature, or inanimate object.

Besides narrating the show, he is an experienced pilot and wood grower and has often risked life and limb to save his wife and daughters from extremely perilous situations they find themselves in on their travels. He considered taking a professorship at Oxford in order to allow his daughters to have "normal" lives and to have human friends (in Eliza's case), but even this honor won't quench the need for adventure in his blood as he continues his journeys to the far corners of the globe in search of one elusive species after another.

Nigel appears in every episode of The Wild Thornberrys. His first appearance was in "Pilot". His last appearance was in "Eliza Unplugged". Nigel has a supporting role in The Wild Thornberrys Movie, he had a bigger role in Rugrats Go Wild!.
He also appeared on a few video games, including crossovers.
