"Puns and Buns" is the twenty-fourth episode of the sixth season and the two-hundred-seventieth episode of The Loud House.
Plot[]
Benny struggles to rein in Luan and her practical jokes when she becomes his coworker at the Burpin' Burger.
Synopsis[]
Dairyland is closed for the off-season, meaning that Benny is unable to work there to sell popcorn. To compensate, he works at Burpin' Burger and manages to do such a good job that his manager, Andre, decides to promote him assistant manager. Upon being promoted, Luan arrives and snags him with a fishing rod just to say hi to him. After being told by Andre to pay for some soda that Mr. Coconuts drank, Luan says that she misses hanging out with Benny ever since Dairyland closed. Suddenly, she realizes that she could work alongside him, with Benny agreeing. However, when Benny proposes to Andre the idea of Luan working alongside him, Andre refuses, thinking that Luan won't take the job seriously, but he relents when Benny brings up how Luan has previous experience working at a restaurant before, and that she could fill in for Otis, a fellow employee who got injured after a sign spinning incident. Benny eagerly relays the news to Luan, saying that she'll officially start work tomorrow.
The next day, Luan and Benny arrive to Burpin' Burger, ready to work together. After reading through the rule book, Luan officially starts her job, but it soon becomes clear that Luan isn't taking the job seriously as Andre suspected, as she cracks jokes with Lynn Sr. (her first customer) at the front counter, giving customers bags of fake dog poop whenever customers ask for a #2 at the drive-thru, and doing several pranks and/or hijinks while working in the dining room. Because of Luan's actions, Andre excuses Benny to the meat locker, where he orders him to fire her, saying that she's the worst employee they've had. Benny is reluctant, but then Andre gives him an ultimatum: fire Luan, or have his title as assistant manager stripped.
As Luan swirls around inside the milkshake machine, Benny approaches her to try and tell her he's firing her due to her incompetence. However, after imagining a worst-case scenario where Luan gets sad and angrily breaks up with him, Benny instead assigns odd tasks for her, like cleaning out the dumpster and delivering food with odd specifications like living in Hazeltucky or a guy with a blue mohawk riding a horse. Unfortunately for Benny, Luan completes all these tasks with ease, and Benny, not wanting Andre to see her, decides to hide her in the meat locker, which he promptly locks. However, after locking her in, Andre arrives and says he needs to enter. Benny tries to dissuade him by saying that there's a rat infestation, but Andre decides to go in anyway, saying it's his duty as manager. Suddenly, the second he opens the door, Luan suddenly rams out. Seeing Luan still working here, he tells her that Benny fired her, only for Luan to refute that Benny never did such a thing. Because of this, Benny confesses to Andre that he couldn't pull through with it and confesses to Luan that he didn't want to upset her, thinking she'd break up with him. However, Luan says that she would never break up with Benny and ultimately admits that she did go too far with her antics. Suddenly, Benny realizes that he has an idea on how to satisfy everyone.
Later, it's revealed that Benny has assigned Luan to be the restaurant's sign spinner, given her experience wearing costumes. After Andre tells Benny that he gets to keep his assistant manager title, Otis arrives, fully recovered from his injuries, only for Luan to accidentally throw the sign at him, injuring him once more.

Trivia[]
- This episode is similar to "Can't Hardly Wait", as in both episodes, a Loud child begins working at a restaurant in order to have bonding time with another person that they want around, but during the process, they perform tasks incorrectly, resulting in them getting bounced around to different jobs. Eventually, this results in somebody wanting the Loud child to leave, only for it to turn out that they can have a job at the restaurant. The difference is that Lori wanted to quit working at Lynn's Table due to repeatedly making mistakes, while Andre wanted Luan to be fired from her job at the Burpin' Burger due to inappropriate behavior.
- This is the first episode since "Cow Pie Kid" to be directed by Jared Morgan.
- Following "The Old and the Restless", "Legends", "Net Gains", "The Write Stuff", "Power Play with the Casagrandes", "Senior Moment", "Sand Hassles", "Band Together", "School of Shock", "Director's Rut", "Haunted House Call" and "Prize Fighter", this is the thirteenth episode in which only one main character appears.
- Lincoln appears on the title card as the burger next to Benny.
- According to Luan, Lana once slept in Charles' doghouse and got so dirty, she was difficult to clean up.
- Benny mentions the events of "Stressed for the Part" by bringing up Luan playing as Heidi Heifer.
- Similar to Grant Palmer who returned as an eponymous Burpin' Burger employee, Andre Robinson returns as the voice of the eponymous Burpin' Burger manager.
