Raphael (or Ralph for short) is one of the four protagonists of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comics and related media. Named after the 16th century Italian painter Raphael, he is the most impatient, aggressive and hot-headed of the turtles. His weapons of choice are twin sai, and he is also the only one of the Turtles who wears a red bandanna in all iterations.
Appearance[]
Raphael doesn't have any distinguishing features aside from his red bandanna and sais. However, the 2012 version of TMNT, his head is more square and his front carapace has a small chip. In Rise of TMNT, he is a mutant snapping turtle, similar to Slash and Tokka.
Personality and traits[]
Raphael is the most rash and aggressive out of his brothers. His fighting style is impulsive and mostly offensive as he has little patience hiding in the shadows or being stealthy. He also doesn't like thinking strategically, something that Leo does. His irrational thinking leads the group into dangerous situations. His temper can get the best of him, often causing arguments between the brothers notably Leo and in some cases this causes the group to split up. In the 2012 version, he is quite abusive to his brothers, especially Mikey as he slaps or punches him on the head and roughhouse with him. This usually happens when Mikey says something stupid or irritates the group. Additionally, he is sarcastic at times and comes up with smart remarks.
Raphael is capable of showing love but this is rare. Also, Ralph seems to forget how kind of a person he is. He tends to show his masculine side so his emotions won't get the best of him. He shows a softer side for his pet turtle Spike before his mutation and to his youngest brother, Mikey.
