Bravo 6/6B, a second-generation Navy SEAL in training for Tier One status who is questioned as to his readiness for combat.[1] He becomes a member of Bravo Team at the end of "The Exchange", and twice briefly served as the team's second-in-command.
  • Amanda "Mandy" Ellis (seasons 1–4; guest season 5),[1] Bravo Team's CIA liaison. Due to her actions of giving up the location of a CIA asset in "My Life for Yours", Mandy is demoted from her rank of officer and is now serving as an interrogator for the CIA.[2]
  • Chief Warrant Officer 2 Raymond "Ray" Perry, formerly Senior Chief Special Warfare Operator, a.k.a. Bravo 2/2B, Jason's most trusted friend and the longest tenured member of the team.[1] Ray is promoted to Chief Warrant Officer 2 in episode 3 of season 4.

  • Commander, formerly Lieutenant Commander, Eric Blackburn, formerly Bravo Team's commanding officer, promoted to Executive Officer of DEVGRU during season 4 (recurring season 1; main season 2–4;[3] guest star season 4–present).

The Plot of the franchise[]

The franchise itself is SEAL Team is a military drama that follows the professional and personal lives of the most elite unit of Navy SEALs as they train, plan, and execute the most dangerous, high-stakes missions our country can ask of them. Jason Hayes is the respected, intense leader of the Tier One team whose home life has suffered as a result of his extensive warrior's existence. His team includes his trusted confidant, Ray Perry, the longest-tenured operator with whom Jason shares an ingrained shorthand; Sonny Quinn, an exceptional, loyal soldier with a checkered past who still combats self-destructive tendencies; and Clay Spenser, a young, multilingual, second-generation SEAL with insatiable drive and dedication. Vital to the team's success are troop commander Lt. Cdr. Eric Blackburn, who serves as a leader and confidant both on and off the battlefield; CIA analyst Mandy Ellis, who has sacrificed everything in her drive to root out evil and take down terrorists; and Ensign Lisa Davis, a no-nonsense, take-charge officer. Deployed on clandestine missions worldwide at a moment's notice, and knowing the toll it takes on them and their families, this tight-knit SEAL team displays unwavering patriotism and fearless dedication even in the face of overwhelming odds.

TV Pilot[]

:Main article: SEAL Team: Tip of the Spear

The Tip of the Spear is the TV show's television pilot and the very 1st episode of the first season of SEAL Team and the first episode of the series overall. Senior Chief Jason Hayes is the leader of Bravo Team, an elite unit of Tier One Navy SEAL, who is coping with the recent loss of a member of his team, Nate, during a mission to destroy a load of stolen Javelin missiles aboard a cargo and subsequently to which they are attacked by enemy boats when exfiltrating. In the meantime, while also facing personal problems concerning his marriage and his family, he is sent with his teammates Ray Perry and Sonny Quinn on a clandestine mission in Monrovia to capture alive Abu Samir al-Masri, a high level ISIS leader responsible for multiple attacks in Iraq, hidden in a compound of a Liberian army general in order to arrange a meeting with exponents of Boko Haram. The overnight mission, in which the Green Team recruit Clay Spenser also participates, soon turns into a rescue operation for a female US aid worker held hostage there and Clay, despite contraviding the orders received by Jason, is forced to kill the high value target as he was about to detonate himself with an explosive belt after a long chase in the basement.

TV series[]

Main article: SEAL Team (television series)

The series follows Bravo Team, a sub-unit of the United States Naval Special Warfare Development Group,[4][5][6] the most elite unit of Navy SEALs, as they plan and undertake dangerous missions worldwide with little notice, and the burden placed on them and their families. Following the success of History Channel's Six, on January 27, 2017, it was announced that CBS had given the pilot order for another Navy SEAL project.[7] On March 14, 2017 it was announced that Jim Caviezel would topline CBS' then-untitled Navy SEAL drama pilot[8] but on March 22, 2017, it was announced that David Boreanaz had been cast in the pilot's lead role of Jason, replacing Caviezel.[1] On March 8, 2017, it was reported that A.J. Buckley would play Sonny.[9]
