Swiper is the former main antagonist in Dora The Explorer. He is a young fox who loves stealing and hiding items from Dora, Boots, and many others. He is usually unsuccessful resulting in his catchphrase "Oh, man!" In some instances, he is successful.
Appearance[]
Swiper is a red fox who wears a blue bandana over his face and blue gloves. He is very rarely seen without it. The only time he is seen without his mask is in the episode Dora's Got a Puppy.
Personality[]
As his name suggests, Swiper has a knack for stealing stuff, particularly from Dora. Whenever he is successful, he will scatter the items and it's up to Dora and the audience to find them. To stop his antics, Dora must say "Swiper, no swiping" 3 times. Swiper is strategic as well, often disguising in costumes or hiding before getting the chance to steal.
Throughout the series, Swiper has developed more as a character, showing a softer side and Dora helping him. He had shown guilt in stealing stuff, a perfect example of this is when Swiper ended up on the naughty list in Dora's Christmas Carol Adventure. While it doesn't seem like it, Swiper is actually good friends with Dora. There are times where Dora had to rescue him from trouble. His origins for stealing are unknown but intentional as the writers want to make the show cleaner for kids.
