The Good Wife is an American legal drama franchise, which premiered on CBS on September 22, 2009. The series was created by Robert and Michelle King, and stars Julianna Margulies, as Alicia Florrick a woman trying to balance her work and family life in the wake of her husband's recent political scandal. The Kings are executive producers, along with brothers Ridley and Tony Scott, Charles McDougall and David W. Zucker.

Most of the plot and the origins are entirely on the show. Rarely On May 11, 2015, CBS renewed the series for a seventh season.[1] It was announced in a commercial that aired during Super Bowl 50 that the seventh season would be the final season of The Good Wife.[2] In 2016, The show ended with season 7 as its final season and those 22 episodes were the concluding episodes. However, after the rescinding of upcoming seasons, a spin-off series was announced. Apart from it, we have concluded that The Good Wife season 8 is officially canceled and will not be happening.

Several remakes of the original show has been initialized sinced 2016 in South Korea by Studio Dragon and CBS Television Distribution. The other idea of the tv show remake was shown in Japan by TBS Holdings Inc. and CBS Corporation.

On January 31, 2023, it was announced that CBS had ordered a pilot for a new spin-off series titled Elsbeth, starring Carrie Preston.[3] It was picked up by CBS for 2023–24 television season on May 9, 2023.[4]
