Yellowstone is an MTV Entertainment Group western tv drama franchise created by Taylor Sheridan and John Linson that originally started as a 2018 Television series of the same name on the Paramount Network channel. Three years later, A prequel series, titled 1883 will schedule to premiere on Paramount+ following a five-year deal signed by Sheridan with ViacomCBS and MTV Entertainment Group.
After leading VH1 and MTV, the Viacom television executive had recently added “Yellowstone's” cable TV home, Paramount Network, to his portfolio, along with Comedy Central. The result was a deal for Sheridan to create six shows — including three “Yellowstone”-related programs — exclusively for Paramount+.

The setting of the franchise highly takes place in the Neo-western version ofYellowstone National Park.
The Main series[]

The main series of the franchise started when the violent world of the Dutton family, who control the largest contiguous ranch in the United States. The Series' episodes also shared the conflicts along the shared borders of a large cattle ranch, an Indian reservation, and land developers.

Even the two shows are created by the same person they do have very different settings and storylines. For example, the Mayor of Kingston's plot follows the powerful McLusky family, power brokers in Kingstown, Michigan, where the business of incarceration is the only thriving industry. Tackling themes of systemic racism, corruption, and inequality, the series provides a stark look at their attempt to bring order and justice to a town that has neither. In the other example, the Lioness' plot follows a young Marine is recruited by the CIA to befriend the daughter of a terrorist group in order to bring down the organization from within.
In 2021, the franchise' creator Taylor Sheridan co-created the crime miniseries Mayor of Kingstown. He is currently writing the crime drama Tulsa King, which he co-created with Terence Winter, and the upcoming Paramount+ spy drama series Lioness, which he co-created with the Mystery 101 actress Jill Wagner.

A prequel series, titled 1883, premiered on December 19, 2021, on Paramount+ following a five-year deal signed by Sheridan with ViacomCBS and MTV Entertainment Group.[1][2][3] Sam Elliott, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill star in the series.[4]
1923[]
- Main article: 1923 (Yellowstone)
1923 will focus on a new generation of the Dutton Family during the time of Western Expansion, Prohibition and the Great Depression, which in Montana started a decade earlier.[5][6] It will star Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford and will premiere on Paramount+.[7] The series was initially named 1932,[7] but in June 2022 it was announced that the title was changed to 1923,[8] and it was also announced that the series would take place in the new titular year rather than the former.[6] Sebastian Roché joined the cast in a recurring role.[9]
Preproduction began in Butte, Montana, in July 2022[10] with filming expected to start in mid-August,[11] just a few days after filming for Yellowstone is scheduled to be completed. 1923 is expected to debut on Paramount+ in December 2022.[6]
6666[]

Another planned spin-off, titled 6666, is set in the present day on the Four Sixes Ranch in Texas.[12][13] It will premiere on Paramount Network[14] in 2023.[15] The 6666 Ranch is also featured during the fourth and fifth seasons of Yellowstone.
